How can I be sure that my eclipse glasses are safe to use?
It’s very important that you only buy eclipse glasses from a trusted source. Is it safe to remove eclipse glasses when the sun is fully blocked by the moon?
Yes, you can remove them during the full totality phase, but only when the sun is 100% blocked. Before taking off your glasses, make sure there’s not even a very slight amount of sun showing. Even if the sun is 99% blocked, there’s still enough UV and IR radiation to severely damage your eyes.
