Description
Founded in 2008 by Stephen Ramsden, the Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project is the world’s largest astronomy outreach program. When it began in Atlanta, GA, Stephen never thought that an organization he started in memory of his friend and fellow air traffic controller and veteran would reach over 250,000 people each year. The Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project attends hundreds of events in over 20 countries worldwide (and counting) to bring the magic of space to students and the public through observatory quality solar telescopes.
How Rainbow Symphony Helps
Since Rainbow Symphony has always had a passion for solar events, we thought the Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project was the perfect opportunity to give back while making a difference. Today, we supply specially branded glasses for public outreach and personal use and donate a portion of every sale directly back to Ramsden’s organization.
As a nonprofit 501c3 corporation in the USA, the organization takes less than 5% administrative costs since its inception, and focuses only on providing knowledge for people everywhere. To learn more or schedule a free solar outreach event, please visit www.solarastronomy.org today.
